3.5 User spool file management
Spool management functions are available anytime an iWEB session is operating.
The User Spool manager allows to:
- display the list of the spool files with their attibutes
- delete, hold, release individual spool files in the list
- convert and display a spool file in PDF or HTML (text) format
- change common spool file attributes
- manage spool file messages
- start and end printer writers
User may start the Manager of the spool files owned by just clicking the "User Spool" button in the iWeb toolbar.

The User spool manager provides the following facilities:
- Option 5 (or the PDF button), converts the spool file to PDF and displays it in a new browser window.
iWeb allows to convert SCS or AFP spool files. For AFP spools the maximum size supported is 16 MB, AFP spool with OVERLAY pictures are permitted. (All converted spool files are saved in the IFS, directory "/iwebdata/spool"; it is a user responsibilty to purge no longer useful spool files from this directory, thus saving disk space.

To convert AFP spool files IWEB requires library QFNTCPL (AFP Compatibility Fonts, product 5722SS1, option 8, feature 5050)
- Option T (or the HTML button) converts a SCS spool file to HTML and displays it as text in a new browser window.

- Options 3, 4, and 6 can be used to hold, delete, release a Spool file
- Option 7 manages spool file messages:

- Option 2 allows to change common spool file attributes

- Use key F22 to control printer writers. You may:
- control printer messages
- start a writer
- end a writer

- Option I merges an image and a SCS spool file to a PDF, thus providing an overlay.
Seceral images are available in the IFS directory "/iwebdata/images", and you may add your own, if you need to.

Option 5, when entered in the above screen, display the image candidate to become the overlay of the spool file:

Option S on the image file list, performs the merge of the SCS spool file and the image to the resulting PDF
Note - This function , in order to operate properly, requires on the iSeries the Java Developer Kit at minimum release 1.2 ( XXXXJV1 Option 3) or subsequent.

The resulting PDF is shown here:

The user can control size and position of the picture in the PDF.
