2.2 The Standard Process

We call standard process the Graphical WEB Conversion Session (GWCS) process
when no exceptions are found in the information stored in the objects to be converted.
This type of process is the quickest one, as the GWCS has no need to stop for asking user help.

On the opposite, we call non-standard process the GWCS process where some piece of information
in the objects reveals as not uptodate, and the process must stop and ask user help.

In this section we shall just care for the standard process,
in order to provide the quickest walk-through the Graphical WEB Conversion Session (GWCS) process.

  Topics in this section:

2.2.1 Selecting the library to be converted

After selecting "2. Convert another library" from the menu in Figure 02-02, GWCS displays a list on non-system libraries:
see Figure 02-03.
Double click on the radio button of the library containing programs you want to convert.

2.2.2 Assessing the display file library

At this point, GWCS issues the warning page in Figure 02-04.
According to program references, GWCS detects that a number of display files to be converted are available in a given library.
There may be cases, however, where the programs converted would use the same display files from another library.
You must make sure that the display files to be converted are the those used at execution time.

In iWEB, display file conversion results in masks generated in the IFS according to the pattern

/library_name/dspf_name/rcdfmt_name
Maximum attention should therefore payed to the display file library name:
converting display files in the wrong library would result to failure of the converted programs when running under WEB.

What to do:

  • if the name of the display file library in Figure 02-03 matches the display file library name at execution time,
    just press the "next" button
  • if at execution time the library name of the display files is different from the one reported in Figure 02-03,
then enter the correct library name before pressing the "next" button.

2.2.3 Selecting programs & menus to be converted

After pressing the "next" button in Figure 02-04, GWCS presents the page in Figure 02-05:

Here the user has two options:

  • select one by one the individual programs / menus to be converted, by checking the related checkbok,
    then pressing the "next" button
  • or press the "select all" button, to convert all the menus and the programs in the list.

2.2.4 Final list of programs & menus to be converted

A final list of menus and programs to be converted is then displayed (See Figure 02-06).

This is done to let the user check some details about the objects to be converted.

  • Select the radio button of a program and press the button "detail information"
to display some information about a program (see Figure 02-07).
Please note the links to the source of the program and to the source of the display file referenced by the program.

  • Press one of the links to display the corresponding source member (see Figure 02-08) in a new window.

Close the source member display window, then use the browser back button to go back to the page in Figure 02-06.

Press the "next" button in Figure 02-06 to complete the GWCS Standard Process.

The GWCS process would then continue with the Conversion parameters step.
